This is how MacDonald's makes their French fries

McDonald’s is the world’s largest fast food chain in the world. You can pretty much find these restaurants everywhere. The company serves about 68 million customers per day, but do these customers know what’s in their iconic french fries? You have probably heard of a ton of rumors regarding chicken nuggets made from pink goo. But are these rumors true? What about the fries? Are they even real potatoes!?Mythbusters host, Grant Imahara, is here to find out. It turns out that the fries are made from a variety of potatoes like russet burbanks and umatillas. They do not use GMO potatoes. The taters are shot through this potato cutter to create their distinct shape. The potato gun is so fast that it shoots the potatoes through the cutter at about 60 - 70 mph! After they are cut the fries are covered in sodium acid pyrophosphate so that it keeps the fries from graying after freezing. They are also covered in dextrose to keep the fries consistently golden.
